Glen E. Brantley, 89, passed away on August 2, 2017, at 1:10 AM, at Lima Memorial Health System
Glen was born April 6, 1928 in Chatham, Illinois, to Thomas and Lottie “Dolly” (Farley) Brantley who both preceded him in death. On May 17, 1954 he married Jane(Keith) Brantley who preceded him in death on August 3, 2013.
Glen attended Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois. Glen proudly served in the United States Coast Guard in 1945 and joined the USCG Combat Association. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the United States Coast Guard, Glen moved to Lima, Ohio. As an avid worker, Glen retired from Equity Dairy Industries after roughly 42 years of service. He was a member of Lima Lodge #205 Free & Accepted Masons, 32nd Degree Mason Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo,York Rite Bodies of Allen County and a life member of VFW Post #1275 and Teamster Local 908. Glen loved to camp at State Grounds and National Monuments. He loved NASCAR, he took particular interest in Dale Earnhardt Jr and Danica Patrick. He also was very close with his cat Midge.
Glen is survived by his children, Glen E. (Carol) Brantley, Jr., John L. Brantley, Jerry R. Dennison, Michael A. (Patty) Brantley, and he also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He preceded in death by his mother, Lottie “Dolly”(Beatrice) Brantley, son, Michael Terry Dennison and brother, Frank T. Brantley, sister, Freida I. (Melvin) Simpson, and Mary Alice (Raymond) Hughes.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00AM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOME, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, Rev Charles Brantley to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Friends may call on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOME, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
