Francis John Guagenti, Sr., 76, of Lima, passed away at 10:14 AM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 24, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to Joseph and Tillie (Zerante) Guagenti, who both preceded him in death. Francis was a 1959 graduate of Lima Central Catholic. His wife Ann (Lee) Guagenti, who survives in Lima, graduated in the same class. They were married on September 29, 1962.

Francis joined the Army following graduation. He was co-owner of C & G Distributing Company for over forty years, serving as the President of the Wine Division. His employees were like his family. He was a member of the Ohio Beer & Wine Association and the National Beer Wholesalers Association. He had a vast knowledge of wine and loved hosting wine tastings. He thoroughly loved Napa Valley and driving through the vineyards!

His favorite past times were pheasant hunting with Uncle Denny, fishing in Canada, and reading and collecting cookbooks! He loved Sicilian cooking, baking bread and sharing recipes with his family and friends.

Francis loved his grandchildren to the moon! Great family memories were made at Indian Lake, Coldwater Lake and Ft. Myers!

Francis loved spending time at his barn with Fergie and Harold, caring for livestock and gardening.

Francis is survived by his three sons: Gary (Sheila Dee) of Franktown, CO, Joseph (Kamila Schiffler) of Elida, and Francis John (Kimberly Klingler) of Ada; grandchildren: Julia, Vincent, Katelyn, Kylie, Elizabeth, Kendal, Nicholas; his brothers Sam (Denise), and Louis (Phyllis) of Lima; his sisters-in-law, Barbara and Marie Clare “Tiz” Guagenti, Margaret (Derek) Guagenti Noll; his brother-in-law William (Mary) Lee.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Gena (Guagenti Cecala) CaJacob and his brothers Joseph and John; his sister-in-law Rosie; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Cecala and Gene CaJacob.

The family would like to thank Cybill and Diana from Aspire Health Care for their exceptional care of Francis.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 15, 2018 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, where a rosary will be said at 8:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Father Jim Szobonya, officiating. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the Mass where the family will receive friends.

Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
