Floyd James Dye Jr., age 85, was called into the presence of the Lord at 10:02 pm Friday, August 4, 2017, at Lima Memorial Health System with his family by his side.

Floyd was born April 29, 1932 in Fairborn, OH, to the late Floyd James Sr. and Nellie Dean (Pigman) Dye. On May 12, 1956 he married the love of his life, Phyllis Ann (Badertscher) Dye who survives in Lima.

Floyd proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had previously worked for Allied Van Lines, North American Van Lines and West Ohio Stone before retiring on June 1, 1996 from Randall Bearing Inc., where he worked for 23 years. Floyd enjoyed country music, fishing, camping, short trips out of town with his wife, football and NASCAR. He was a life time member of the Spencerville America Legion Post #191, Eagles Aeries #370, Lima and the Loyal Order of Moose #199. Floyd was a member of Lima Community Church, Lima.

He is survived by a family who loved him dearly, wife, Phyllis Ann Dye of Lima; children, Kenneth L. Dye of Lima, Timothy V. Dye of Lima and James Floyd Dye of Lima; grandchildren, Jody (Anthony Johnson) Blue of Lima, Brittany (Andrew Robertson Sr.) Blue of Lima, Cindy (John) Hanes of Lima, Tiffany (Joe Houdesheldt) Dye of Lima, Christina Dye of Lima, Brandon (Carrie Lewis) Blue of Lima, James C. (Jaymi Curtis) Dye of Fort Myers, FL and Kenneth C. Dye of Lima; 17 great grandchildren and son-in-law, Eddie Blue of Lima and brother-in-law, Eugene (Gloria) Hoover.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Ramona D. Everett who preceded him in death February 14, 2016; daughter-in-law, Delores Dye; brothers, Johnny Dye, Jerry Dye and Alfred Dye; sisters, Georgie Swartz, Evelyn Kimble, LaVina Van Dyke, Thelma Brown and Estelle and Vidia, brothers-in-law, Robert Badertscher, Roger Hoover and Joseph Hoover Jr.

Funeral services will begin 2:30 pm Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Dr. Doug Boquist will officiate the service. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the VFW Post #1275.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 8, at the funeral home and from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm prior to the funeral on Wednesday.
