F. Michael Giovinazzo, 84, passed away at 3:05 a.m., March 5, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Lima. Mike was born May 8, 1933 in Lima to the late Dominic and Teresa (D’anna) Giovinazzo. He was a loving brother to Frank, Jim, Angie Adams, Teresa Swarner and Nick Giovinazzo who preceded him in death.
Mike is survived by his first wife, Patsy (Manahan) Giovinazzo of Bluffton, and his current wife, Nora (Patton) Giovinazzo of Tavares, Florida. He will be sorely missed by daughters Debbie (Dan) Garlock and Kelly Giovinazzo both of Bluffton; grandsons, Paul and Patric Garlock; step granddaughters Jessica and Gayle Garlock and a granddaughter Tori Holcomb. Mike is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Nancy (Bob) Kerr of West Chester and his namesake and special nephew, Michael (Tami) Giovinazzo of Houston.
As a member of the 1951 class of St. Rose Catholic School in Lima, Mike was an important part of the 1951 state championship baseball team. It was one of his proudest accomplishments (proven by his STCHP51 license plates) along with being inducted with the team into the LCC Hall of Fame. He spent his work career as a computer operator at Westinghouse Electric. It was this profession that earned him a spot on the TV show “What’s My Line?” in 1974. Mike was an avid softball player and loved bowling. He and his wife, Nora loved to winter in Florida and were “snowbirds” for over 20 years. Mike was a former member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Lima, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bluffton and currently attended County Line Church of the Brethren near Harrod. He enjoyed and was so grateful for his lifelong friendship with Bill Snow, as well as many other friends in the Lima and Tavares area including special neighbors, Betty Jenkins and Jimmy Williams of Tavares, and Cheryl from the Casa Lu Al in Lima.
